We live in a society where two prevailing mindsets continue to persist.

One is the belief that individuals need to get specialized, become an expert in a very narrow field, but understand the complete depth of it. The others believe that people should have a more holistic approach, not necessarily becoming an expert in anything, but having a depth of knowledge across a wide domain of topics. If you have been in the workforce for a long time, you've likely run into managers with opposing viewpoints. The company has been structured around the specialist nature and then reverted to structuring around the holistic nature, and back and forth. There is a consistent tug and pull between these two mindsets that can greatly impact how you look at the world or how your job operates....
