Investment Thesis
To me, Shoals ( SHLS ) is less a tale of demand recovery and more a business going through a short-lived period of reduced margins, with a growing and more stable outlook ahead. The demand environment for utility-scale solar still has a strong structural foundation due to increased usage by data centers, electric vehicle charging, and the on-shoring of production (all of which create more electrical load). Additionally, recent policy decisions have stabilized project development rather than disrupted it, and Shoals' current backlog provides a clear path through FY25 and into FY26.
