The Moat Might Be Narrow, But Symrise Looks Undervalued (Rating Upgrade)

It has been more than two years since I covered Symrise AG ( SYIEF ) the last time. The German mid-cap company is certainly an interesting business and probably one of the more stable businesses in Germany listed on the stock exchange in Frankfurt. However, while we are certainly talking about a high-quality business (and probably a business with a wide economic moat – we will get to this), we also look at a stock price trading far above its intrinsic value in the past. In the conclusion of my last article I wrote:
In my opinion, Symrise is still a “Hold” and while I would not sell the stock as shareholder, I also won’t buy the stock right now. For me, the stock is still a bit too expensive and certainly not a bargain.
