Manulife Investments Announces Final Reinvested Capital Gains Distributions for Manulife Exchange Traded Funds and ETF Series of Manulife Funds

MWN-AI** Summary

Manulife Investments has announced the final reinvested capital gains distributions for its Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and ETF series of mutual funds for the year 2025. These distributions, which reflect realized capital gains within the funds, will be automatically reinvested into additional units of the respective ETFs for unitholders recorded at the close of business on December 30, 2025. Importantly, these distributions will not be paid in cash, negating any immediate impact on the net asset value per unit.

While unitholders receiving the distributions will see an increase in their adjusted cost base, taxable amounts will need to be reported for those holding units outside of registered plans. The specific reinvested distribution amounts and their tax characteristics will be communicated to brokers early in 2026.

A breakdown of the distribution amounts per unit reveals offerings across several ETFs, several of which have zero distributions recorded, while others, such as the Manulife Smart Dividend ETF and the Manulife Multifactor Canadian Large Cap Index ETF, show notable amounts for the year. The process underscores Manulife's strategy to enhance investment outcomes for clients while adhering to the investment goals and market conditions outlined in each fund’s objectives.

Manulife Investments, part of the larger Manulife Financial Corporation, is committed to providing robust financial services and investment solutions to clients globally. They emphasize risk management and a mission to empower individuals in their investment decisions. As market conditions evolve, such distributions reflect Manulife's responsiveness to investment performance and broader economic indicators.

MWN-AI** Analysis

Manulife Investments recently announced the final 2025 annual reinvested capital gains distributions for its family of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and ETF Series of Manulife Funds. For unitholders, these distributions represent a significant aspect of their overall investment strategy, especially considering the tax implications of reinvested gains.

Investors need to be aware that the reinvested distributions will not be paid out in cash, but instead reinvested automatically in additional units. This approach not only keeps the net asset value (NAV) unchanged but also results in an increase in the adjusted cost base, ultimately affecting future capital gains taxes for unitholders outside registered accounts. Analysts recommend that investors review their positions in relation to how these distributions may impact their tax liabilities in 2026.

The announcement highlighted various ETFs with differing distribution amounts, notably the Manulife Smart Dividend ETF and the Manulife Multifactor Canadian Large Cap Index ETF, which both presented substantial reinvested gains. Such figures may indicate robust performance or strategic shifts in portfolio allocations. For investors, these funds—especially those with high reinvested yields—can serve as attractive options for long-term growth within diversified investment portfolios.

As always, investors are encouraged to assess their investment strategy in light of recent announcements. With many funds reporting different yields, utilizing a diverse range of ETFs can mitigate risks tied to sector-specific performance. Given the continually evolving market landscape, conducting thorough due diligence and considering advisors’ insights could help steer investment decisions effectively.

In conclusion, while reinvested capital gains are beneficial for compound growth, understanding their tax implications is critical for managing net returns. Keeping an eye on Manulife's strategic adjustments will also be vital in anticipating future fund performances.

TORONTO, Dec. 30, 2025 /CNW/ - Manulife Investments today announced the final 2025 annual reinvested distributions for Manulife Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and for ETF series of Manulife Mutual Funds, including Manulife Alternative Mutual Funds (Manulife Funds). These annual reinvested distributions generally represent realized capital gains within the ETFs or ETF series of a Manulife Fund.

Unitholders of record at the close of business on December 30, 2025, will receive the 2025 reinvested distributions. The distributions will not be paid in cash but will be reinvested automatically in additional units of the respective ETFs or ETF series of Manulife Funds and immediately consolidated so that the number of units held by each unitholder, and the net asset value of the ETFs or ETF series of Manulife Funds will not change because of the distributions. Unitholders holding their units outside registered plans will have taxable amounts to report and an increase in the adjusted cost base of their investment.

The actual distribution amounts, including the tax characteristics, will be reported to brokers through Clearing and Depository Services Inc. in early 2026.

Please note that the cash distributions are reported separately and may be applicable for some ETFs or ETF series of Manulife Funds making annual reinvested distributions.
