SCHD: Aren't You Glad You Didn't Sell?

Over the last year, we've seen a lot of different criticisms of the Schwab US Dividend Equity ETF ( SCHD ). Investors were upset that the ETF underperformed while other dividend growth ETFs rallied higher alongside the technology sector. Since SCHD doesn't have a meaningful allocation to the technology sector, it wasn't structurally capable of participating in that rally. Despite this, I still issued a buy rating at the time of my last coverage because SCHD remains a great dividend growth ETF for investors that are nearing or at the retirement phase of their journey. Since my last coverage, SCHD has now provided a total return above 17% in an approximate 6-month span....
