Tesla, Inc.’s ( TSLA ) weak Q4 auto sales report has confirmed its second consecutive year of declining deliveries. The company delivered 418,000 vehicles in the three months through December, down 16% y/y and sequentially from its record-setting September quarter. The results also underperformed an already lowered bar of average consensus expectations, which sat at a mere 440,900 vehicles (-11% y/y). This has accordingly reinforced longstanding concerns over the durability of Tesla’s core automotive growth and margin accretion prospects – a key factor underpinning its increasingly generous R&D budget for physical AI and autonomy....
