EADSY - Airbus's newest assembly line for smaller planes revives A380 plant

Airbus ( OTCPK:EADSF )( OTCPK:EADSY ) on Monday marked the opening of a new assembly line for its A321neo passenger plane in Toulouse, France. The occasion is somewhat of a rebirth for a massive hangar that was deserted after the company stopped making the A380 superjumbo jet.

Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire toured the assembly line in the Jean-Luc Lagardere plant. Airbus ( OTCPK:EADSF )( OTCPK:EADSY ) said the factory will create 700 jobs by 2026.

The opening of its eight assembly line comes amid Airbus’s ( OTCPK:EADSF ) ( OTCPK:EADSY ) efforts to reorganize while boosting output of its A320-family planes to 75 a month in 2026 from about 45 currently.

Airbus ( OTCPK:EADSF )( OTCPK:EADSY ) and U.S. rival Boeing ( BA ) have ballooning orders for new planes as airlines see a post-pandemic rebound in travel. Both plane makers have faced supply-chain constraints as the world reopens from lockdowns.
