AZN - Alexion Pharma last trading day next week NASDAQ says
Zhanna Hapanovich/iStock via Getty Images After the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority greenlighted the proposed acquisition of Alexion Pharmaceuticals (ALXN) by AstraZeneca (AZN), the deal is expected to close on July 21 after which Alexion shares will be delisted from Nasdaq, the exchange announced on Thursday. “We look forward to the imminent closing of the transaction so that we may pursue our shared ambition to bring more innovative medicines to patients worldwide and begin AstraZeneca’s next chapter of growth,” noted AstraZeneca CFO Marc Dunoyer. In December 2020, Astra announced its intention to acquire Alexion in a deal valued at $39B in cash and stock. The shareholders of both companies gave the go-ahead for the deal in May. After the closing of the acquisition, Aradhana Sarin, CFO of Alexion, will join Astra as its CFO, and Dunoyer will become the CEO of Alexion, Astra announced in early June.
