To address the shortage of affordable house in metro areas and to counter criticism that the company has driven up housing prices in cities in which it operates, Amazon ( NASDAQ: AMZN ) has committed $1.4B to its Housing Equity Fund to build homes in Seattle, Nashville, and Arlington, Virginia.
