AMZN - Amazon Foxconn team to produce Fire TV Sticks in India

Amazon (AMZN) is partnering with Foxconn (HNHAF) subsidiary Cloud Network Technology to produce Fire TV Sticks on its first device manufacturing line in India.The line will be housed in Cloud Network's Chennai plant with an annual capacity of "hundreds of thousands" of units. The facility will be operational later this year.“We are delighted to announce Amazon’s first manufacturing line in India to produce hundreds of thousands of Fire TV Stick devices every year, catering to the demands of Indian customers,” says Amit Agarwal, global SVP and country leader at Amazon India. “This further reiterates our commitment to the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.”In early 2020, Amazon pledged another $1B investment to the Indian market, bringing the total commitment up to $6.5B.The e-commerce giant invested in local retail giant Future Group, which led to an ongoing legal dispute after Future tried to sell off its retail assets to Reliance.
