AZN - AstraZeneca files with European Commission for planned Alexion acquisition

AstraZeneca (AZN) filed its planned purchase of Alexion (ALXN) with the European antitrust regulator on May 31, according to filing on the agency's website.The deadline for the European Commission to rule on the deal is July 5.AstraZeneca has received approval in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Russia but was still waiting for the green light from U.K., EU and Japan.Last week, the U.K. competition is reportedly investigating AstraZeneca's $39B acquisition of Alexion.
