A previously announced event with President Biden on Wednesday to celebrate Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and Merck's (MRK) agreement to have the latter produce J&J's COVID-19 vaccine has been moved from Baltimore to the White House, Bloomberg reports.The event was slated to take place at an Emergent BioSolutions Inc. (EBS) facility, but that plan was nixed because Emergent has come under criticism for federal contracts that have supported the country's Strategic National Stockpile for medical equipment, according to Bloomberg.On Saturday, The New York Times reported that last year, the federal government under the Trump administration paid Emergent $626M for stockpile supplies that included anthrax vaccine.The Times report found that although the federal government in 2015 approved a plan to purchase tens of millions of N95 respirators for the stockpile, funding for it was never approved over the years.
