  • Burger King and Popeye franchise operator Carrols Restaurant ( NASDAQ: TAST ) said Thursday the company appointed Deborah Derby as its new president and CEO, effective May 1.

  • Derby will succeed Paulo Pena, who passed away unexpectedly in December, and interim president and CEO Anthony Hull.

  • Derby served in a variety of senior positions during her 15-year career at Toys “R” Us between 2000 and 2015, most notably as president of Babies “R” Us and vice chairman of Toys “R” Us.

  • Derby has been a director at Henry Schein since February 2021, and was previously director at Vitamin Shoppe.
