EDU - Chinese education companies GSX Tal Education New Oriental plunge on reports of new on-line regulations

Chinese online tutoring company GSX Techedu (GSX) plunged 20%, while Tal Education (TAL) fell 18% and New Oriental Education (EDU) dropped 21% following report of new policies on on-line education.Education industry magazine School Principle Reference earlier reported on some new on-line education educations policies that include banning on-line education for students age 6 and below, according to a Jefferies note.In addition, on-line education companies will no longer be able to advertise on Chinese state-owned media.Jefferies expects that the new policies will have "insignificant impact" on TAL and EDU as the companies' on-line products "very rarely" target pre-elementary school students.Developing story ...
