COMM - CommScope chosen for Mediacom's 10G smart-home trial

Mediacom Communications has chosen CommScope (COMM -1.7%) to power a 10G smart home trial. CommScope's end-to-end connectivity solutions will be implemented in the trial by Mediacom (in partnership with CableLabs and the Internet & Television Association) designed to test cutting-edge applications in real-world conditions. Targeted in the trial are support for future home automation, virtual reality, augmented reality, gaming, holographic displays, and consumer applications. The 10G network is made to deliver about 2.4 Gbps downstream along with about 1.3 Gbps upstream, to more than 70 devices throughout the trial home. The signal will go both over wired Ethernet connections and wireless Wi-Fi 6 connections.
