PLAY - Dave & Buster's co-founder dies at 72
Dave & Buster's Entertainment ( NASDAQ: PLAY ) announced that the co-founder of the restaurant and entertainment chain died at the age of 72 on Monday.
James "Buster" Corley was reported to have died in a Dallas hospital after police were called to his home. The cause and manner of the death are still being reviewed by local authorities.
The idea for Dave & Buster’s was born in the late 1970s when Corley was running a restaurant in Dallas near a business operated by David Corriveau that offered entertainment and games for adults, according to the PLAY website. The first establishment offering dining and games was opened in 1982 and the business has since grown to have 151 locations in the United States and two in Canada. The company has an IPO in 2014 to become publicly traded.
Shares of PLAY traded 3.27% higher on Wednesday. For the last 52 weeks, the leisure stock is down more than 8%.
