The Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued new corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards for vehicles manufactured after 2027 that would require all new passenger vehicles sold in the U.S. to increase fuel economy at a rate of 2% per year and 2% per year for light trucks made between 2029 and 2031. The agency estimates that this would raise the mileage for passenger vehicles and light trucks to ~50.4 miles per gallon by 2031....
