NATI - Emerson said to engage with National Instruments over last three weeks
- Emerson Electric ( EMR ) is said to have engaged with National Instruments ( NASDAQ: NATI ) over the last three weeks or so.
- Emerson ( EMR ) came away with the impression from the discussions with National Instrument ( NATI ) that the company's price expectations were "unrealistic," according to CNBC's David Faber.
- Faber said that when he asked if Emerson ( EMR ) might be willing to pay in the $60s a share, he was told they wouldn't. National Instruments ( NATI ) shares jumped 13%, while Emerson fell 6% on news of the hostile bid.
- The update comes after Emerson ( EMR ) earlier Tuesday disclosed a bid to acquire National Instruments (NATI ) for $53 a share at an implied enterprise value of $7.6 billion. Emerson submitted a proposal on Nov. 3 to improve an opening bid of $48-per-share on May 25.
- National Instruments ( NATI ) jumped 17% on Friday following the announcement of the evaluation of strategic options .
