HEWU - European markets open lower ahead of interest rate decision

The pan-European Stoxx 600 edged -0.14% lower,  with most sectors in negative territory. Mining stocks led losses, followed by food and beverage stocks. Media and retail stocks bucked the trend and gained marginally.

Coming up in the session: All eyes set on European monetary policy decision and US retail sales due later in the day.

In the bond market, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield was up 2 basis points to 3.82%.

Germany's 10-year yield was up 4 basis points to 2.49%.

U.K.'s 10-year yield was down less than 1 basis point to 4.40%.
