LYV - Live Nation gains 2% as CEO says U.S. concert biz 'fully open'
Live Nation Entertainment (LYV) is 1.8% higher today after its CEO says the U.S. concert business is "fully open" just in time for the peak of the summer, after enduring the COVID-19 pandemic. CEO Michael Rapino tells CNBC "we're very excited about the American market," noting that both the U.S. and the UK markets "seem on track" but "in America, we're fully open at this point." He expects the U.S. and UK to make up 70% of the company's business. The company is hosting 30 nationwide amphitheater tours at full capacity starting this week, he says, and 10-15 music festivals this summer. He expects the European market to reopen later in the summer and fall, while Asia won't be truly back until next year amid lagging COVID-19 vaccinations.
