NSRGY - Nestle to invest $3.6B to combat climate change
Nestlé (NSRGY) expects to invest CHF3.2B ($3.58B) over the next five years to reduce its climate impact and help it to halve its emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.Around CHF1.2B will go spark regenerative agriculture in its supply chain, the company said.Nestlé is continuously increasing the number of 'carbon neutral' brands.The company will plant 20M trees over the next decade and help farmers and suppliers shift toward regenerative agriculture. That practice improves soil health and protects ecosystems.Nestlé also plans to get 100% of its electricity from renewable sources at its 800 factories within the next five years, and will expand its offering of plant-based food and beverages."Tackling climate change can't wait and neither can we. It is imperative to the long-term success of our business," said Mark Schneider, Nestlé CEO.
