Geothermal is a more reliable source of renewable energy as compared to solar and wind.
But the falling costs of solar and wind energy combined with battery backup may largely negate geothermal energy's traditional reliability advantage.
Meantime, the market rotation out of growth and into value has certainly taken the steam out of Ormat's stock - it's down 40% since its high of $126 on February 10th.
However, Ormat isn't a typical growth stock: it has been a profitable utility company for years and pays a quarterly dividend. Is it now in BUY territory?
