MOGO - Riot Blockchain May bitcoin production more than triples from a year ago
Just_Super/iStock via Getty Images Riot Blockchain (RIOT) produced 227 bitcoin (BTC-USD) in May, a 220% increase over its May 2020 production of 71 BTC. YTD, Riot produced a total of 924 bitcoin, which is more than double its pre-halving BTC production of 460 bitcoin during the same period in 2020. As of May 31, Riot held ~2K bitcoin produced by its mining operations. Due to Bitmain's shipments to RIOT, it will install 1,000 new miners by Q2, which will be deployed at the Whinstone facility. Riot will have a total of 23,946 Antminers in operation, utilizing ~76 megawatts of energy, with an estimated hash rate capacity of 2.4 exahash per second. By Q4 2022, Riot expects a total hash rate capacity of 7.7 EH/s, "assuming full deployment of its anticipated fleet of approximately 81,146 Antminers acquired from Bitmain, 95% of which will be the latest generation S19 series model of miners."
