DLN - S&P Dow Jones Indices dividend payments increases $18B doubled Q/Q growth

During Q1, indicated dividend net changes (increases less decreases) for U.S. domestic common stocks increased $18B vs. $9.5B in 4Q20 and drop of $5.5B in year ago quarter, as per S&P Dow Jones Indices data.For Q1, total increases amounted to $20.3B (+46.9% Q/Q,  +63.7% Y/Y), the largest quarterly increase since first quarter of 2012.Dividend cuts decreased 45.1% Q/Q to $2.4B and down 86.8% Y/Y from year ago levels.For the 12-month Mar. 2021 period, the net dividend rate fell $17.3B, compared to a gain of $28.2B as increases dropped against rise in decreases in the same period."Companies that suspended their dividends have started to pay again, while others who decreased their dividends or left them unchanged in 2020 have resumed increasing payments," Senior Index Analyst Howard Silverblatt commented.During Q1, 906 (+24.5% Y/Y) dividend increases and 64 (-52.2% Y/Y) issues decreased dividends were reported.Within the S&P 500, 385 issues, or 76.2% currently pay a dividend while 62.5% of
