SIEGY - Siemens unit agrees to acquire FORAN software from SENER
Siemens Digital Industries Software, a business unit of technology firm Siemens ([[SIEGY]] +0.5%), has agreed to acquire FORAN software business from Spain-based engineering and technology company SENER.Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in the Q421.FORAN team and marine design software will join Siemens' Xcelerator portfolio of integrated software and services, allowing marine customers to adopt a comprehensive digital twin approach to ship design and construction.Commenting on the deal, Tony Hemmelgarn, CEO and President, Siemens Digital Industries Software, said, "By adding FORAN's extensive tools to the Xcelerator portfolio and leveraging the team's industry expertise, we will be able to offer commercial and naval shipbuilding customers better control of their ship design and manufacturing process as they transition to Shipyard 4.0."SENER Group will retain and strengthen its traditional marine engineering business portfolio, where it offers design, engineering and consultancy services for different types of ships
