CRM - Slack CEO: We won't go back to old work habits in 'digital-first world'
FG Trade/E+ via Getty Images Stewart Butterfield, co-founder and CEO of workplace messaging software maker Slack Technologies (WORK), said Wednesday that workplaces won't go back to full-time in-person schedules, as COVID has accelerated the movement to a "digital-first world." Speaking to CNBC, Butterfield argued that a shift has taken place between digital and in-person work. While digital used to supplement a largely in-person workplace, now he thinks in-person contact will become a supplement for digital tools. The Slack CEO predicted that the market will eventually work out how often employees will be required to come to the office. However, he doesn't think workers "will allow themselves to be demanded to go back to work five days a week." Butterfield argued that employers that stick to a strictly in-person workplace risk losing out on top talent.
