SFTBY - SoftBank pays $1.6B for Yahoo Japan rights
Koki Nagahama/Getty Images News SoftBank ([[SFTBF]],[[SFTBY]]) business Z Holdings will pay 178.5 billion yen ($1.61B) for the rights to Yahoo branding and technology in Japan in perpetuity. The new agreement will happen after Verizon (VZ) offloads its media assets to private equity firm Apollo Global. Z Holdings completed its merger of Yahoo Japan and popular messaging app line earlier this year, leaving the holding company with a $43 billion valuation.
