UNP - U.S. weekly rail traffic improves 1.9% as majority carload commodities trend higher
The Association of American Railroads ((AAR)) reports total weekly US rail traffic up 1.9% Y/Y to 520,452 carloads and intermodal units for the week ending Oct. 10, 2020.Total intermodal volume was 289,488 up 8.4%, offsetting the carloads volume decline of 5.2% to 230,964.6 of the 10 carload commodity groups posted an increase, with grains up 6,531. On the other side, coal down 11,610 carloads, non-metallic minerals down 5,053 carloads, and petroleum products -2,438 carloads.Rail Traffic for the first 41 weeks of 2020: United States: 19,122,615 (-10.1% Y/Y); Canadian railroads: 5,790,801 (-7% Y/Y); Mexican railroads: 1,407,316 (-10.7% Y/Y).
