VF Corp. ( NYSE: VFC ) said on Thursday the personal data of approximately 35.5M individual consumers were stolen in the cybersecurity incident that hit the footwear and apparel maker in December and impacted the company's ability to fulfill orders.
The Denver, Colorado-based firm, which owns brands such as Vans sneakers and outdoor apparel and equipment provider North Face, said that it had found unauthorized occurrences on some of its IT systems on December 13, 2023.
The threat actor was subsequently ejected from VF's IT systems on December 15, 2023, but personal data of approximately 35.5M individual consumers appears to be stolen based on preliminary analysis from the firm's ongoing investigation.
The company noted that it does not collect or retain any consumer social security numbers, bank account information or payment card information in its IT systems, adding that there is no evidence to date that any consumer passwords were acquired.
VF Corp. ( VFC ) does not expect a material impact to its financials resulting from the incident. "VF has substantially restored the IT systems and data that were impacted by the cyber incident, but continues to work through minor operational impacts," the company said in a filing .
Shares of VF Corp. ( VFC ) rose 0.98% in premarket trading on Friday
