Vir Biotechnology ( NASDAQ: VIR ) announced on Wednesday the planned retirement of CEO George Scangos, effective April 3, 2023.
Industry veteran Marianne De Backer has been named as Scangos' successor, effective April 3, 2023. De Backer, who currently serves as EVP, Head of Pharmaceuticals Strategy, Business Development and Licensing/Open Innovation, and member of the executive committee for Bayer Pharmaceuticals, will also join Vir's board of directors.
