Economic reports in the week ahead Investors will get some hard reads on the U.S. consumer next week, with earnings reports due out from Walmart, (NYSE:WMT), Target (NYSE:TGT), Lowe's and Macy's (NYSE:M). Sandwiched in between those reports will be the July update on retail sales, which is forecast to show a 0.2% decline from the June tally. On Wednesday, the release of Fed minutes will have central bankers diving into the nuances of the varying viewpoints on bond buying tapering and inflation. Meanwhile, the electric vehicle sector will be following Tesla's AI Day event and more reverberations from the infrastructure legislation. Earnings spotlight: Monday, August 16th: Oatly (NASDAQ:OTLY) and Roblox (NYSE:RBLX). Earnings spotlight: Tuesday, August 17th: Walmart (WMT), Home Depot (NYSE:HD), La-Z-Boy (NYSE:LZB) and Cree (NASDAQ:CREE).
