Worries about the Federal Reserve continued to weigh on significant parts of the market during Thursday's premarket trading. The futures pointed to another decline for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, while the Dow held a slight gain. Here are some stocks to watch on Thursday:
- Tesla ( NASDAQ: TSLA ) dropped in premarket trading following the company's investor day . Elon Musk's EV maker included an outline for a new manufacturing platform in its presentation. However, shares dropped 6% as analysts were disappointed by the lack of financial details.
- The release of earnings news sparked premarket buying in Salesforce ( CRM ). Shares of the enterprise software giant jumped 15% after the firm beat expectations with its Q4 results and provided an upbeat forecast. Looking ahead, the company sees Q1 revenue between $8.16B-$8.18B, compared to analysts' consensus of $7.4B.
- Snowflake ( SNOW ) dropped 7% in premarket action amid a weak forecast included with its latest quarterly update . The data warehousing company exceeded expectations with its Q4 earnings and revenue. However, SNOW predicted Q1 revenue of $568M-$573M, compared to a projection of $582M.
- Macy’s ( M ) surged before the opening bell following the release of quarterly results . The retailer reported Q4 earnings of $1.88 per share, surpassing projections by $0.29 per share. Revenue came in better than expected as well, despite a 4% drop from last year. Shares jumped 8% on the news.
- Best Buy ( BBY ) released a mixed Q4 report . The electronics retailer topped expectations with its earnings figure, but the firm's revenue came in below projections. The top-line total dropped 10% to $14.7B.
- Broadcom ( AVGO ) is scheduled to announce its quarterly results after the closing bell. The communication chipmaker is projected to earn $10.17 per share, with sales totaling $8.9B. Investors will also look closely for details about the state of the company's $61B acquisition of VMware ( VMW ).
- Costco ( COST ) is also slated to reveal its financial figures in the postmarket period. Analysts are looking for an earnings figure of around $3.20 per share. Revenue is expected to rise to $55.6B.
Looking outside the U.S., Franklin Templeton Investments argues that international equities are poised for a recovery, recommending that investors "use the strong dollar to buy discounted assets abroad ."
