A Promising First Year for the MTY Group Foundation/Fondation Groupe MTY

MWN-AI** Summary

The MTY Group Foundation, established in early 2024, has marked a successful inaugural year by raising over $140,000 to support various community initiatives. The foundation's most notable event was its first annual golf tournament in September 2024, held at Le Blainvillier Golf Club, which attracted 288 participants and raised more than $100,000 for the Breakfast Club of Canada—a cause dedicated to ensuring children have access to nutritious breakfasts.

In addition to the golf tournament, the foundation contributed to The Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation's “Pedal for Kids” event, successfully fundraising over $34,000 in June 2024 to support pediatric education services and inter-hospital transport projects. December saw another successful venture as the foundation organized a toy drive that resulted in the collection of over 300 gifts for sick children, embodying the spirit of giving during the holiday season.

Renée St-Onge, CFO of MTY Group and a board member of the foundation, emphasized the importance of employee participation in these initiatives, allowing them to engage with their children about the values of sharing and community support.

Throughout the year, discretionary donations from employees, raised through cafeteria sales and raffle tickets during Christmas events, contributed an additional $11,000. The MTY Foundation also extended its outreach to Calgary, donating $1,500 to support local programs tied to the Calgary Stampede.

As the foundation looks toward its second year, its commitment to social responsibility shines through its pillars: "Nourish. Empower. Commit." President and CEO Éric Lefebvre acknowledged the collective efforts of employees and partners, stating that their participation is crucial for the ongoing success of the foundation's mission.

MWN-AI** Analysis

The first year of operation for the MTY Group Foundation has demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. Fundraising efforts exceeding $140,000, highlighted by the successful golf tournament that alone raised over $100,000 for crucial programs like the Breakfast Club of Canada, underscore the foundation's potential as a powerful philanthropic entity.

From a market perspective, the MTY Foundation's proactive approach to community involvement can enhance the corporate image of MTY Group, fostering goodwill and loyalty among consumers and stakeholders alike. Engaging employees in fundraising initiatives, such as the collaborative toy drive and participation in events like “Pedal for Kids,” not only boosts morale but also cultivates a culture of philanthropy within the organization. This is increasingly vital in today's market, where corporate social responsibility is a key factor for consumers when choosing brands.

Investors should view the foundation's activities as a positive signal. A company that actively contributes to community well-being often enjoys a more favorable reputation, which can translate into enhanced brand loyalty and support from consumers. Businesses that engage with their local communities can also experience lower employee turnover rates and increased productivity due to enhanced job satisfaction among their employees.

Going forward, MTY Group can capitalize on the foundation's momentum by diversifying its fundraising strategies, exploring partnerships with additional organizations, and communicating its contributions more broadly to amplify outreach. This can lead to greater fundraising success and deeper community ties, as well as strengthen MTY Group's market position.

Overall, the MTY Group Foundation has established a promising trajectory that not only supports various initiatives but also aligns with growing consumer expectations for corporate social responsibility. Investors should monitor its development as a potential catalyst for growth.

MONTRÉAL, Jan. 13, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --  Over the course of its first year of operation, the MTY Group Foundation/Fondation Groupe MTY successfully fundraised over $140,000 for the community.

The largest fundraising event spearheaded by the MTY Foundation was its first annual golf tournament at Le Blainvillier Golf Club in September 2024, which welcomed 288 players and over 60 sponsors, raising over $100,000 for the Breakfast Club of Canada.

In June 2024, the MTY Foundation fundraised over $34,000 for “Pedal for Kids”, an event led by The Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation, helping fund the inter-hospital pediatric transport project and supporting the pediatric education services team.

In December 2024, the MTY Foundation, in collaboration with The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, organized a toy drive with the goal of distributing over 300 gifts to sick children. All of MTY Group’s Montreal office contributed to the initiative, collecting over 300 gifts and bringing some cheer to the holiday season for children in need.

“It’s important for our teams to be able to directly contribute to making a difference. This initiative also allowed our employees to talk about the notion of sharing and helping each other with their own children,” said Renée St-Onge, MTY Group’s Chief Financial Officer and member of the MTY Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Furthermore, MTY Group employees were given the opportunity to contribute to the MTY Foundation throughout the year with discretionary donations in exchange for snacks in the MTY Group’s cafeteria or raffle tickets that were sold during the MTY Group’s Christmas festivities. This helped the MTY Foundation fundraise over $11,000.

The MTY Foundation extended its contributions through MTY Group’s Calgary office, with a $1,500 donation in connection with the 2024 Calgary Stampede. The Calgary Stampede supports programs such as The Young Canadians School of Performing Arts, Calgary Stampede Showband, Band of Outriders, and Calgary Stampede Showriders.

The MTY Foundation would like to thank everyone who contributed throughout 2024 and hopes to build upon the funds it raised in the new year.

“Without the participation of our employees and the collaboration of our partners, none of this would be possible. The MTY Foundation’s efforts are a great way to demonstrate one of MTY Group’s three core values: dedication,” said Éric Lefebvre, MTY Group’s President and CEO.
