- Aerojet Rocketdyne ( NYSE: AJRD ) said it had received a $67M contract from Lockheed Martin ( NYSE: LMT ) to provide propulsion systems for the Orion spacecraft that will be launched on Artemis missions VI-VIII.
- Under this contract option, three additional sets of Orion's service module auxiliary engines and three extra jettison motors are to be delivered.
- This new contract is an extension of the 2019 Orion Production and Operations Contract (OPOC).
- Aerojet Rocketdyne was granted a distinct contract in 2021 to furnish new Orion Main Engines for future Artemis missions. Additionally, Lockheed Martin plans to employ refurbished crew modules powered by reaction control thrusters, also created by Aerojet Rocketdyne, in future Artemis missions.
