AES Corp. ( NYSE: AES ) said Thursday it has launched commercial operations for phase one of its Chevelon Butte wind farm, the largest wind project in the state of Arizona.
The company said the first phase of the project will bring 238 MW of clean energy online, and expects another 216 MW will achieve commercial operations sometime in 2024.
AES ( AES ) said it expects Chevelon Butte to generate enough electricity to power 110K homes annually once both phases are fully operational next year.
The project will use the most advanced wind energy technology deployed to-date and include a total of 105 wind turbines at full buildout, the company said.
