Airbus ( OTCPK:EADSF ) ( OTCPK:EADSY ) has signed an agreement with Air India for 250 jets, as part of the carrier's major purchase under its new owners, Tata Group, Reuters reported Friday.
The deal, which includes 210 single-aisle A320neo family planes and 40 widebody A350s, could be announced as early as next week, according to the report.
The deal is part of a potentially record order for ~500 jets split roughly equally between Airbus and rival Boeing ( NYSE: BA ) which could easily exceed $100B in total based on list prices.
Boeing ( BA ) reportedly signed agreements for its 220-plane share of the deal on January 27, comprised of 190 narrowbody 737 MAX jets and 30 widebodies split between 787s and 777Xs.
Tensions are mounting between the U.S. and China, shattering Boeing's ( BA ) hopes for a boost in aircraft sales, Dhierin Bechai writes in an analysis published recently on Seeking Alpha .
