- Amazon ( NASDAQ: AMZN ) completed its $3.9 billion acquisition of One Medical ( NASDAQ: ONEM ). One Medical was halted earlier for news pending.
- “Customers want and deserve better, and that’s what One Medical has been working and innovating on for more than a decade," Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a statement on Wednesday. "Together, we believe we can make the health care experience easier, faster, more personal, and more convenient for everyone.”
- Amazon ( AMZN ) agreed to acquire One Medical ( ONEM ), an operator of a membership-based primary care platform for $18/share in July. The deal comes as there has been consolidation in the space, specifically CVS Health ( CVS ) earlier this month agreed to acquire Oak Street Heat h ( OSH ) for $10.6 billion.
- Bloomberg reported Tuesday that the Federal Trade Commission wouldn't try to block the combination. The FTC is expected to issue a warning letter that the probe into the transaction remains open despite the deadline for the antitrust review.
- Amazon ( AMZN ) received a "second request" from the FTC in September regarding the One Medical deal.
- Following the close of the deal, Amir Dan Rubin will remain as the Chief Executive of One Medical ( ONEM ).
