In the U.S. on Tuesday, all three major indexes ended mixed amid a rout in tech stocks, as investors locked in profits following a solid run in 2023. A rebound in the dollar and Treasury yields also weighed on equities as investors await key US jobs data and the latest Federal Reserve meeting minutes this week.
Analysts also pointed to heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East after Iran deployed a warship to the Red Sea earlier this week, in a bold move to challenge US forces in the key trade route.
U.S. stock futures were little changed on Wednesday after the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite posted its worst session since October: Dow -0.06%; S&P 500 -0.03%; Nasdaq -0.06%.
