%Baidu () says it has released more than 70 %ArtificialIntelligence (A.I.) large language models in its home market of China as it seeks to capitalize on the red-hot technology.
The Chinese technology concern, which is best known for running a search engine similar to Google, said that its new A.I. models combined have more than one billion parameters that users can access through voice commands.
Baidu joins several other Chinese tech concerns that have launched A.I. large language models and chatbots recently after regulators in the country of 1.4 billion people approved them for mass market adoption.
Earlier this year, Baidu unveiled its signature chatbot called “Ernie Bot.” However, the launch was rife with technical problems and led to much criticism online, as well as skepticism from analysts who cover the company.
Now, Baidu says its latest version of the A.I. chatbot, “Ernie 3.5,” has processing speeds twice that of the previous version and is 50% more efficient.
Baidu executives said they continue to improve Ernie Bot and plan to launch yet another upgraded version of it by year’s end.
Baidu is widely considered to be a leader in artificial intelligence among Chinese technology companies.
The stock of Baidu has increased 23% this year and currently trades at $146.47 U.S. per share.
