- Baidu ( NASDAQ: BIDU ) shares rose more than 1% on Monday as the Chinese tech giant unveiled updates to its Apollo advanced driver assistance system program at an industry conference.
- At Auto Shanghai 2023, Baidu ( BIDU ) took the wraps off Apollo City Driving Max, which includes a "lightweight HD map" that is 80% lighter than traditional HD maps. The company added that this gives drivers a better experience on urban roads thanks to pure vision perception and LiDAR-supported version.
- The Chinese tech giant also unveiled four key aspects of its Apollo automated driving unit, including open experience definition, open independent experience evolution, open full-cycle OTA services, and open co-creation with automotive partners.
- Baidu ( BIDU ) also said its Apollo Highway Driving Pro service would use Black Sesame Semiconductor's Huashan II A1000 chip computing platform, set to be released later this year.
- Late last month, Baidu ( BIDU ) cancelled an event in which it was going to show off its ChatGPT rival, Ernie Bot .
