Baker Hughes ( NASDAQ: BKR ) unveiled plans Tuesday to develop technology for direct air capture of carbon dioxide with synthetic fuel maker HIF Global.
The partners said they plan to test Baker Hughes' ( BKR ) Mosaic Materials direct air capture technology pilot units to accelerate DAC deployment at commercial scale.
HIF has an eFuel facility in Chile and expects to begin construction of another plant in Texas next year, and it anticipates possible deployment of Baker Hughes' ( BKR ) technology at these sites.
Acquired by Baker Hughes ( BKR ) in 2022 to enhance its carbon capture, utilization and storage portfolio, Mosaic Materials is focused on developing a proprietary direct air capture technology using Metal-Organic Framework materials that can be used to separate CO2 from the atmosphere.
Energy companies such as Occidental Petroleum are investing heavily in DAC technology as a way to help fight global warming .
