Berlin Brandenburg airport announced the cancellation of all departures on Monday as workers in the German capital’s airport walked out in protest.
“Due to the announced warning strike at the aviation security controls, no departures are possible today,” a warning notice from the airport states. “Arriving flights may also be affected by cancellations and changes to the flight schedule due to the warning strike.”
The strike was announced by the Vereinigte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (Ver.di) union representing the workers. The union had previously been a force behind the strike of workers at Frankfurt airport in February and a “megastrike” affecting rail and air travel across the country in March .
