Boeing ( NYSE: BA ) concluded a momentum building Farnborough Air Show Thursday with another 737 MAX jet order , from Qatar Airways, and a last-minute commitment from Luxembourg's Cargolux for the 777-8 freighter.
The company secured a deal for 25 of the 737 10 narrowbody planes from Qatar Airways, and a commitment from air freight carrier Cargolux that should be wrapped up in coming weeks.
Boeing ( BA ) announced new firm orders for 167 MAX jets and five widebody 787 Dreamliners at Farnborough, worth ~$9.6B after standard industry discounts, according to pricing data from the Avitas aircraft valuation firm.
Airbus ( OTCPK:EADSF ) ( OTCPK:EADSY ) wrapped up the show with an order for 17 A321neo aircraft by Latam Airlines, but the company's results from the week were oddly lackluster .
" The recovery is well underway ," Boeing's ( BA ) senior VP of commercial sales Ihssane Mounir told The Seattle Times . "We've seen it primarily in the insular domestic markets. Now it's starting to foothold internationally as well."
The buzz at the air show, according to the Times was that Federal Aviation Administration approval to resume deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner could come as soon as next month .
