- Every three months we wring our hands and try to read the tea leaves about whether Brookfield Real Assets' generous distribution is safe for another quarter.
- In this year's quarterly webcast/commentary on May 4, the fund said it had made no recommendations to the board about changing the current distribution, in either direction.
- They said that the distribution coverage for the year ending March 31st as they define it - total earnings, not just NII - was over 200%.
- Then they said for the first quarter of 2021 it was only 83%.
- Given that 83% is fairly close, and coming off a year with coverage over 200%, I'm leaning toward expecting the distribution to hold, but it's obviously not a sure thing.
