- Billionaire Carl Icahn added a new stake in Illumina ( NASDAQ: ILMN ) in Q1, which has been subject of a public proxy battle with the activist investor in recent months.
- Icahn disclosed the information in his latest 13F filing for the three months ended March 31, published after hours on Monday.
- Icahn trimmed his stake in Herc Holdings ( NYSE: HRI ) by selling over 3 million shares and reduced his stake in Newell Brands ( NASDAQ: NWL ), selling 3.08 million shares.
- The investor increased his holdings in Southwest Gas ( NYSE: SWX ), adding 3.9 million shares.
- The 13F disclosure comes as shares of Icahn's holding company Icahn Enterprises ( IEP ) have dropped more than 30% since a Hindenburg short report was released two weeks ago.
- Icahn released a rebuke to the short report on Wednesda y and announced board approval to repurchase up to an aggregate of $500M worth of the depositary units.
