- Cirrus Logic ( NASDAQ: CRUS ) shares rose nearly 3% on Wednesday as an influential tech analyst called the semiconductor company the "primary winner" of a potential change Apple ( NASDAQ: AAPL ) may make to the next version of the iPhone.
- TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted that Apple ( AAPL ) is likely to cancel physical buttons and move to solid-state buttons on the high-end models of the iPhone 15, with Cirrus Logic ( CRUS ) as the primary beneficiary. Kuo added the high-end iPhone 15 models will also have Taptic Engines to "simulate the feel of physical buttons' force feedback."
- "As the exclusive supplier of Taptic Engine's controller IC for solid-state buttons, Cirrus Logic stands to benefit markedly from this new design," Kuo wrote .
- The analyst added that if iPhone users like the new design, it could be adopted in other high-end product lines in the future.
- Apple ( AAPL ) shares gained more than 1.5% in mid-day trading on Wednesday.
- Investment firm Wedbush Securities recently said Apple ( AAPL ) remains the firm's top pick for an "overlooked" tech sector in 2023 .
