A federal court may ruling on the Federal Trade Commission's attempt to block Microsoft's ( NASDAQ: MSFT ) planned $69 billion acquisition of Activision ( NASDAQ: ATVI ) after the close on Wednesday or Thursday.
A ruling is not expected after the close on Tuesday, according to CNBC's David Faber. U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley in San Francisco will make the ruling on the case.
Time is ticking as the deal termination deadline of next Tuesday approaches, when the parties can decide to walk away, extend, or renegotiate the $95 a share purchase of videogame giant Activision ( ATVI ).
The FTC last month filed a preliminary injunction to block the acquisition of Activision ( ATVI ), saying that the regulator feared Microsoft ( MSFT ) may try to close the purchase even though the FTC had originally challenged it in December.
The five-day trial, which included testimony from Microsoft ( MSFT ) CEO Satya Nadella and Activision ( ATVI ) CEO Bobbi Kotick, concluded on June 29.
