The Morgan Stanley Emerging Markets Domestic Debt Fund ( EDD ) is a closed-end fund that might offer an attractive proposition to investors who desire a high level of current income from the assets that they already possess. This fund does pretty well from a current income and yield perspective, as it boasts a 9.09% yield at the current price. This is substantially higher than the current yield of any of the major domestic or global fixed-income indices. We can see that quite clearly in the following chart:
Index/ETF | Current Yield |
Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Index ( AGG ) | 3.84% |
Bloomberg High Yield Very Liquid Index ( JNK ) | 6.59% |
Vanguard Total World Bond ETF ( BNDW ) | 4.03% |
Vanguard International Bond Index Fund ETF Shares ( BNDX ) | 4.33% |
J.P. Morgan EMBI Global Core Index ( EMB ) | 5.16% |
