- Equinor ( NYSE: EQNR ) said Tuesday it was awarded 26 new production licenses on the Norwegian continental shelf with 18 as operator and eight as partner.
- Broken down by region, the Norwegian company won 16 licenses in the North Sea, nine in the Norwegian Sea and one in the Barents Sea.
- "Production from existing oil and gas fields will decline, and continued exploration and replenishment is essential to maintaining long-term, important energy deliveries from Norway," Equinor ( EQNR ) said.
- Separately, an investigation into a fire last July at the Equinor-operated Mongstad oil refinery has shed light on a number of regulatory "nonconformities" at the site , Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority said.
