The past month, we heard news of very strong China EV sales again, but a slowdown in Europe and U.S. EV sales growth rates. The biggest news for the month was the U.S. government announcing new 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs.
Plugin electric car sales as of end April 2024
Global plugin electric car sales were 1.2 million in April 2024, up 25% on April 2023 sales. Global plugin electric car market share in April was 18%, and 17% YTD.
China plugin electric car sales were 703,000 in April 2024, up 27% on April 2023 sales. Plugin electric car market share in China for April was 44%, and 40% YTD.
Europe plugin electric car sales were 219,000 in April 2024, up 11% YoY, reaching 20% market share and 21% YTD. Norway reached 91% share, Sweden 56.9% , Germany 18.4% , France 24.3% , and UK 24.7% in April 2024....
